Online Certificate in School Nutrition & Wellness

The Online Professional Certificate in School Nutrition and Wellness has been designed to help counteract the current health status of today’s youth.  Nearly 20 percent of America's children are overweight or obese, with some school districts reporting figures as high as 70 percent. Effective health and nutrition education and school wellness policies are critical tools in the effort to reverse what virtually all health professionals see as a very serious problem. After all, the health status of America’s youth will directly impact our nation's health care system, available labor pool and our national priorities for years to come.

This certificate program is appropriate for anyone concerned with child health and education, including school administrators, teachers (both physical education and classroom teachers), health educators, nutritionists, nurses, food service providers, caregivers, PTA members, allied health/medical and fitness professionals, and even parents. With the knowledge gained through this program, participants come to feel a sense of empowerment as they go about the task of leading or participating in effective wellness committees, modeling optimal eating behaviors, and making their district schools and community environments healthy and positive places for our youth.
