Scholarships

Thomas Edison State College offers a number of scholarship programs to assist students in meeting their financial commitments. The College's Scholarship Program does not discriminate based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, marital status, or disability. However, a scholarship may have eligibility requirements within one or more of these categories.

Requirements & Criteria

All candidates must:

• Be enrolled at Thomas Edison State College at the time of application
• Have applied for financial aid (Federal, State (NJ residents only, and Thomas Edison State College)
• Have at least a 3.0 Thomas Edison State College GPA at the time of application
• Have completed a minimum of 12 Thomas Edison State College credits, with at least six hours being from Online or Guided Study courses
• Funds received must be applied to tuition and fees toward any credit-earning option offered at Thomas Edison State College.

Additionally:

• Incompletes, withdrawals, and failed classes do not count as completed credits and students must successfully complete 66 percent of courses attempted.
• Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria for the scholarship(s) for which applied.
• Required documentation, if any, must be provided before the end of the application period.

Application Period: June 1 - August 31, 2010
Selection Period: September 1 - 30, 2010
Notification and Recipient Acceptance Period: October 1 - 31, 2010
Disbursement Period: Within 2 weeks after receipt of recipient’s acceptance

Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation Scholarship (Students with Spinal Cord Injuries)
Application Period: December 1, 2009 - February 28, 2010

Eligibility criteria for this scholarship is listed on the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation Scholarship page and may be different from the criteria for other scholarships

2010 Award Timeline for the Dr. George A. Pruitt Endowed Presidential Scholarship (Graduate students only)
Application Period: June 1 - July 31, 2010
Selection Period: September 1 - 30, 2010
Notification and Recipient Acceptance Period: October 1 - 31, 2010
Disbursement Period: Within 2 weeks after receipt of recipient’s acceptance
