“I have two young daughters, one is in her senior year of high school and the other is just entering as a freshman. I wanted to show them both that education is important if they want the opportunity to succeed in life and that a good education will open the doors to those opportunities. Also, I wanted to earn the degree for myself to prove that I could accomplish that task.”
The degree he pursued was the Master of Science in Management, which he completed in 2006.
The chief financial officer with the United States Air Force National Guard for New Jersey, DiMicco has served in the military for 26 years. As CFO, he's responsible for all the funds for the full operation of a flying wing for the state, including payroll—which makes him a busy manager. Yet he was able to complete the MSN program in one year, using credits earned at Thomas Edison State College, as well as transfer credits.
What was the best part of the experience? “I was able to interact with fellow students and the professors online during each term,” DiMicco says. “In addition, I enjoyed the two weekend seminars I shared with fellow students. This is a great program and I have been recommending it to all my friends.”
In addition to his newly earned Thomas Edison State College MSM degree, DiMicco holds an associate degree in resources management from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Leo College in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he graduated cum laude in 1984.
