Thomas Edison State College has a long history of partnering with organizations and corporations to leverage their professional training and learning programs into college credit.

The College is a nationally renowned leader in assessment of prior learning, including portfolio assessment, credit-by-exam programs and the assessment and evaluation of professional training programs for college credit, including professional licenses and certifications.  

The College has created unique academic opportunities in a wide range of industries where technical currency, practical knowledge and applied skills have been leveraged into college credit.

The Office for Assessment of Professional and Workplace Learning evaluates courses, licenses, certifications, apprenticeships and exams offered by corporations, government agencies, career schools and professional associations to determine college-level learning and awards credit for the college-level learning acquired through the completion of those programs.
