Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program
The accelerated 2nd degree BSN program at Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey is a one-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program designed for adults who already possess a bachelor's degree (non-nursing) completed prior to admission and who are interested in becoming registered nurses. Classroom-based courses for the accelerated nursing program are offered two days per week at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, N.J.
The program prepares graduates for the National Council Licensure Exam for RNs (NCLEX). The 120-credit BSN degree includes 60 general education credits (earned prior to admission) and 60 credits of professional nursing courses completed full-time both online and classroom-based at Thomas Edison State College. Clinical experiences will be held at Capital Health facilities in Trenton, N.J. and Hopewell, N.J.
A criminal background check, drug screen, health and immunization verification, malpractice and health insurance, and CPR certification are required.
Applications are now being accepted for the October 2012 term from candidates interested in the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program. Applications are due to the Office of Admissions by June 1, 2012. The accelerated nursing program is designed for full-time study only and due to the rigorous nature of this program, outside employment is not recommended.

Tuition:
Tuition is $26,900, made in quarterly payments. Students are billed in four quarterly installments of $6,725. Students accepted into the program must make a $2,000 non-refundable deposit to confirm their space; the deposit is applied directly toward their first quarterly tuition payment.
NOTE: All tuition and fees listed here were approved on June 4, 2011, by the Board of Trustees of Thomas Edison State College and are effective July 1, 2011. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Tuition and fees for courses and examinations for the nursing and general education requirements taken at other institutions will be the student's responsibility.
