College VP Elected to Princeton Chamber Board

John P. Thurber elected to serve on Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
TRENTON, NJ (January 4, 2010) —John P. Thurber, vice president for Public Affairs at Thomas Edison State College, was recently elected to serve a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to advancing the general welfare and prosperity of the greater Princeton area. Its vision is to serve its members with opportunities to meet and do business with other members, and with resources to enhance their success; to speak for business with a collective voice on public policy issues affecting business and its communities; and to promote an environment for business growth by encouraging economic development efforts that strengthen the Princeton area’s reputation and by enhancing the quality of life in the communities it serves.

“It is an honor to have been elected to serve on the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board,” Thurber said. “Thomas Edison State College has a ‘stewardship of place’ commitment to serving its communities, and the chamber plays an important role in the vitality of the communities in the greater Princeton region.”

Thurber’s portfolio as vice president at Thomas Edison State College includes responsibility for the College’s work in the areas of advancement and public affairs. He also serves as executive vice president of the Board of Directors for the Thomas Edison State College Foundation, Inc.

Active in civic affairs, Thurber was recently re-elected as vice chairman of the Mercer County Improvement Authority and is a past president of the Board of Directors of the Trenton Downtown Association. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Capital Health; a member of the board and former chairman of the American Cancer Society, Mercer unit; a member of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Princeton Foundation; and an elder of Nassau Presbyterian Church. Thurber is a summa cum laude graduate of Rutgers Law School in Newark, N.J.
