College Sponsors 2nd Annual Distinguished Lectureship on Diversity
Event aims to develop a collaborative network of diverse nurse faculty members to enhance nursing programs nationwide and help reduce the national shortage of nurse educators
TRENTON, N.J. (October 4, 2007) —– The School of Nursing at Thomas Edison State College is sponsoring its second annual distinguished lectureship on diversity in nursing this month, which aims to develop a collaborative network of diverse nurse faculty members to enhance nursing programs nationwide and help reduce the national shortage of nurse educators.
The one-day event, Mentoring though Cybergogy: Building a Diverse Workforce is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 12, and will be held at Thomas Edison State College, 101 W. State St., Trenton, N.J.
“The 2007 event will emphasize how online education provides mentoring opportunities that support diversity,” said Jovita Solomon-Duarte MSN, RN, CCRN, diversity coordinator at the College’s School of Nursing. “Distinguished educators and nursing leaders from various parts of the country will address the significance of diversity in nursing and mentoring strategies that are essential in building a diverse workforce representative of 21st century demographics.”
