Thomas Edison State College Ranked “Best Buy” in Higher Education

GetEducated.com Names Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Among Top Five Best Values in the Nation
TRENTON, N.J. (March 8, 2007) —– The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program at Thomas Edison State College was ranked as one of the top five best buys in the country for online regionally accredited undergraduate business degrees, according to a national survey conducted by GetEducated.com.

According to the survey, which examined publicly posted tuition and fee rates at 89 regionally accredited institutions throughout the country, the undergraduate business degree program at Thomas Edison State College ranks fifth in the nation in terms of quality and affordability. To view the complete rankings, visit www.geteducated.com.

“Thomas Edison State College is very unique,” said Vicky Phillips, founder of GetEducated.com. “The cost for an online undergraduate business degree at Thomas Edison is very reasonable. What our rankings and survey says to people is that they have many choices among regionally accredited institutions.”

The average cost of earning an online undergraduate business degree at a regionally accredited institution is approximately $40,224, according to the survey.  The survey calculates the average cost of earning an online undergraduate business degree at Thomas Edison State College at approximately $25,880 for non-New Jersey residents, and approximately $18,080 for New Jersey residents – both well below the national average for regionally accredited baccalaureate programs. Depending on several factors, including the number of credits a student transfers into a program and the type of tuition plan, the cost of earning a degree at Thomas Edison State College may be even lower.

The survey reinforces a trend identified in other national surveys focusing on online master’s degrees conducted by GetEducated.com: higher cost does not mean higher quality.

“Just because a college education at one school costs three times more than another school, it does not mean that it is three times better,” said Phillips.

GetEducated.com surveys try to create an index of regionally accredited online degree programs to help consumers better understand the costs associated with earning an online degree and make a more informed decision, noted Phillips.

“We are honored to be recognized as an intelligent investment in education,” said Mary Ellen Caro, associate provost and dean of the School of Business and Management at Thomas Edison State College. “For more than 30 years, we’ve been providing adults with high-quality educational programs designed around their needs. Today, maintaining that focus in our efforts, particularly with our Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program, remains at the core of our mission.”

In 2004, GetEducated.com conducted a survey ranking the top 10 best buys in the country for online regionally accredited undergraduate human resources degrees, which included the baccalaureate degree program in human resources at Thomas Edison State College.

Founded in 1989, GetEducated.com, LLC designed and directed America’s first online counseling center for adult learners seeking accredited online college degrees.
