
In making the announcement, School of Applied Science and Technology Dean Marcus Tillery, said, “Tom brings a wealth of experience in training, development and industrial education, and these experiences will prove invaluable as we continue to build strong relationships with business and industry. He is a welcome addition to the team in the School of Applied Science and Technology.”
Devine is responsible for organizing, planning and coordinating curriculum development and implementation; recruitment; strategy development and implementation; and research and development activities for the School of Applied Science and Technology.
Devine brings a wealth of knowledge from industry based on more than 30 years of experience with Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G). Additionally, he brings teaching expertise from Centenary College, were he is an adjunct instructor. Devine has served on Thomas Edison State College’s Academic Council for the past two years, holding the position of chairperson for the Applied Science and Technology Curriculum Committee. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in industrial education from the University of Wisconsin - Stout, Menomonie, Wis., a Master of Education in trade and industrial education from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., and a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, N.J.
Devine, who has served on technical advisory committees for energy utility technology degree development at three New Jersey community colleges, co-presented Curriculum Design for Energy Utility Technology at the 1st Annual Center for Energy Workforce Development Summit in Charlotte, N.C., in October 2006. He is a member of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD).
