In making the announcement, Provost William J. Seaton, said, “Ray brings in years of leadership and experience with adult learning in a wide array of operational areas to the College— we are delighted to have him with us.”
Young is responsible for the planning, implementation and direction of activities in providing Learner Services support to students enrolled in the College’s degree programs and assists in making policy, budget and program decisions. In addition, he supervises, evaluates and monitors the work of the staff of the Advisement Center, the Office of the Registrar, the Office of Financial Aid & Veterans’ Affairs and the Office of Students with Disabilities, and oversees transcript evaluation.
Previously, Young was a campus director for Campbell University in North Carolina where he managed all aspects of a satellite campus serving more than 1,200 students comprised predominately of sailors, Marines and civilian employees of the Department of Defense. Before pursuing a vocation in higher education he completed a 23-year career in the United States Marine Corps in which he rose through the ranks from private to lieutenant colonel. Primarily serving as an infantry officer he held a variety of command and staff positions both ashore and afloat.
Young holds a Master of Arts in Education in adult education from East Carolina University, a Master of Science in systems management from the University of Southern California, and a BPA in public administration from National University. In addition to his more traditional academic endeavors, Young is also a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Amphibious Warfare School; Command and Staff College; and School of Advanced Warfighting.
