Dear Schools of Nursing Deans, Directors, and Chairs:
Welcome to the Thomas Edison State College School of Nursing's database of online-certified minority nurse educators.
The Thomas Edison State College School of Nursing offers a free 20-week Certificate in Distance Education Program (CDEP) to outside faculty who are interested in learning an online teaching methodology. We received funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for three years to educate minority nurse faculty to teach online. The grant was re-funded in 2008 for an additional three years. Currently, approximately 80 minority nurse educators are certified to teach online.
Another purpose of this grant is to share the scarce resource of minority nurse educators across the nation in order to increase diversity in your school. We hope that you would allow a certified nurse educator to teach at least one course online at your school, in addition to their full-time teaching load, as required by the grant. All of the educators in the database have agreed to be "shared" by other institutions to increase diversity in schools of nursing.
We hope that you find this site useful, and return to it whenever you need a minority nurse educator who is certified in Distance Education.
Thank you for your interest in the Thomas Edison State College School of Nursing's Diversity grant program.
Sincerely,
Susan M. O'Brien, EdD, RN
