MUS-182 Music History I

The student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the history of Western music from the Middle Ages through the Baroque and early classical periods stressing the origin and evolution of musical forms, musical styles and the important composers from each of the time periods before 1750. The student will also be able to place this knowledge in the broader cultural context of each period and its influence on the development of music.
