How can I raise my TESC GPA?

Thomas Edison State College GPA are based solely on graded credits earned through Thomas Edison State College coursework; regardless of when these credits were earned and regardless of whether the course is used to fulfill a degree requirement. As of July 1, 2011, only grades which reflect earned credits (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, F, IF, and W) will be used to calculate the official Thomas Edison State College GPA. Please note that NC (no credit) grades associated with Thomas Edison State College Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), e-Pack® or TECEP® will continue to be excluded from the transcript, even if the course start date is after July 1, 2011. Should a student not earn credit, the PLA, e-Pack® or TECEP® will not appear on the transcript. Learn more about our new GPA policy.

How can students raise their GPA under the new policies? You may improve the Thomas Edison State College GPA in two ways:

1. Take the same Thomas Edison State College graded credit course and earn a higher grade, and at least a "C".
2. Take other Thomas Edison State College graded credit courses and earn a "B" or better to offset grades lower than a "C-".

Students must have a 2.0 or above GPA to graduate or any additional standard required by their school. If you have any questions about raising your GPA, please contact the Thomas Edison State College Academic Advisement Center at (888) 442-8372.
