What is the Military Degree Completion Program?
The Military Degree Completion Program was developed to accommodate the special needs of military personnel whose location, re-location and time restraints make traditional college attendance difficult, if not impossible. The program allows you to engage in a degree program wherever you may be stationed. The program is ideal for the individual who needs 12 semester hours or more of credit to earn a degree and desires to use innovative instructional approaches rather than classroom-based courses.

Each program of study is defined by a personal Academic Program Plan in which military training, previous college credits, licensure and certifications may be used to satisfy Thomas Edison State College requirements. Your academic plan maps out your degree with a profile of credit-earning options that can best meet your needs.

(If you have attended or are attending an accredited community college, you probably will already have earned some of these 120 credits.) (Your military training and experience, if appropriate, will likely satisfy many credit requirements in the option and free elective areas.)

Thomas Edison State College measures credit in terms of credit hours, also known as semester hours.  This is the usual measure of credit at colleges and universities whose academic year is typically made up of 15-week terms.
