Online Certificate in Health Care Law
This course provides a comprehensive examination of health care law, including health care delivery systems; state and federal regulations; physician and staff issues such as privileges and credentialing; as well as Medicare topics of coverage, eligibility, appeal, fraud and abuse. Health care compliance issues will be covered in depth, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) Electronic health records, clinical research issues and ethical decision making in health care will also be examined. Appropriate case law and references to pertinent regulations will be provided, along with numerous additional resources such as Web sites, articles, texts and the archives of The New York Times.
