Earning TECEP® Credit

TECEP® exam results are posted to a student's file as CR (Credit) or NC (No Credit) and do not affect a student's grade point average (GPA). Also, only CR results appear on a Thomas Edison State College transcript. Therefore, a transcript will not show a test score, a letter grade, or an NC result, only exams that have been completed successfully and the number of credits that have been earned.

The minimum score require to earn credit on a TECEP® exam is equivalent to a letter grade of 'C.'

Students may take a TECEP® exam a second time if they do not pass on their first attempt, subject to the following policies:

  • Students must wait three months before retesting.
  • Students may retest only one additional time.
  • Students must re-register and pay another test fee.

After a TECEP® exam has been scored and the results are entered into a student's file, students will receive a grade report that lists either CR (Credit) or NC (No Credit). Students can also view their results online, by logging into their academic evaluation on the Online Student Services page of the Web site.

It is not possible to review a TECEP® exam after administration. Students who believe there was a problem with their exam should send an e-mail to otdr@tesc.edu. Students should include their name, student number, course code, and test date. Any concerns regarding a specific test administration must be made within 90 days of the receipt of the score report.

In order to maintain compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, the College cannot release test results via telephone, e-mail, or fax.
