eArmyU Program

Throughout its history, Thomas Edison State College has served military personnel worldwide. The College has played a pioneering role for more than three decades in developing military educational degree maps as well as career-related degrees that optimize military training and experience. Thomas Edison State College has also enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the U.S. Army. Now, as a participant in the eArmyU program, our steadfast commitment to serve the educational needs of soldiers worldwide is even more evident.

The eArmyU program enables U.S. enlisted soldiers to obtain professional technical certifications, associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees using laptop computers to access online courses while they serve in the Army.

The program is offered by the Army through IBM Global Services, who was awarded a contract by the Army to provide distance education for an estimated 80,000 soldiers over a five year period, equipping them as students with the latest technologies and quality online learning experiences.

Upon their initial enrollment, soldiers participating in the eArmyU program will be issued a laptop computer to access their courses. They will also receive access to the Internet as well as technical support accessible online and over the telephone. The Army anticipates that the laptop will become the property of the soldier after a minimum number of online education courses have been completed.

Chartered in 1972 and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Thomas Edison State College is one of New Jersey's 12 senior public institutions of higher learning. It offers educationally valid alternatives to college classroom study appropriate to the varied needs and learning styles of adults, especially those in the military. The College offers associate, baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in more than 100 areas of study.
