Susan P. Gilbert


Dr. Susan P. Gilbert was appointed dean of the School of Business and Management at Thomas Edison State College in 2010.

She brings a tremendous track record of growing enrollments and developing effective academic programs. Dr. Gilbert fills a critical role in helping the institution achieve its strategic goals and serving adult learners interested in business programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Prior to joining Thomas Edison State College, Gilbert served as executive director and associate dean of MBA Programs at Rutgers University in Newark. Before joining Rutgers, she had a distinguished career at Emory University in Atlanta. Under her leadership as associate dean of the evening MBA program, the program earned a national ranking by Business Week magazine and enrollment grew by 90 percent. At Emory, Gilbert also served as executive director of Academic Programs, chair of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women and an associate professor of finance and developed and taught several courses in the university’s business administration program.

Prior to her career in academia, Gilbert served as a supervisor with AT&T.

Gilbert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Binghamton University, State University of New York, in Binghamton, N.Y. and holds a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
