Online Certificate in MBA Essentials

Advance your career by earning an MBA Essentials Professional Certificate through the School of Professional and Continuing Studies at Thomas Edison State College. This 30-week noncredit certificate program includes five online courses that cover essential skills needed to develop your leadership potential. MBA Essentials: Leadership and Management 
This course considers some of the major themes and issues surrounding effective management and leadership. In order to make this course applicable and relevant to everyday situations, you will be interacting with other participants, with the instructor and with real world examples, many of which will be mini-cases involving fictional organization but will contain challenges drawn from actual circumstances or events.

MBA Essentials: Principles of Accounting and Finance 
This course considers some of the fundamental concepts in finance, emphasizing basic financial literacy and the tasks associated with making responsible financial management decisions.

In order to make this course as applicable and relevant to everyday situations as possible, examples and problems will be drawn from real world situations. In addition, you are encouraged to apply course material and concepts to contemporary challenges.

MBA Essentials: Principles of Marketing 
This course offers an overview of marketing, marketing planning, addressing the definition of marketing, the marketing mix (the Four P's: product, pricing, promotion and placement), the strategic importance of marketing, and customer values and satisfaction. The role of ethics in marketing is also considered. Further, the course reviews the marketing planning process, the components of an effective marketing plan, and the role of market research and how marketers segment, target and position their products or service.

MBA Essentials: Economics for Managers 
This course covers the key concepts in microeconomics and macroeconomics of interest to managers and those in the business world. Microeconomics is the study of the economic behavior of individual consumers, companies and industries. Macroeconomics is the study of national economies and the global economy, how economic aggregates grow and fluctuate, and the effects of the government actions on them. Macroeconomics is a tool used by government policy makers in looking at economic growth, price stability, full employment and trade balances.

MBA Essentials: Fundamentals of Strategy 
This course provides an introduction to strategy as it relates to management and strategic planning.
