Strengthening Diversity in Nursing through Online Teaching
The Thomas Edison State College School of Nursing offers minority nurse educators the opportunity to enhance their skills and share their expertise by preparing them for online teaching. This opportunity, made possible by a grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), provides:
- A 20-week online program to become certified in Distance Education with no cost to the participant
- A mentored online teaching experience
- The option to mentor online nursing courses for the School of Nursing
- The possibility for more nursing students to learn from faculty of greater diversity
- A new resource in online education for the minority nurse educator's home institution
- The possibility for minority nurse educators to extend their tenure beyond retirement and share their expertise beyond boundaries
Minority nurse educators who are eligible to become grant participants may inquire further at nursing@tesc.edu or by calling (609) 633-6460.
To promote collaboration and yearly networking, an annual Distinguished Lectureship on Cultural Diversity is hosted by the School.
