The Heavin School of Arts and Sciences provides an interdisciplinary approach to lifelong learning for adult learners interested in exploring values inherent in the liberal arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences, as well as rigorous degree programs in the human services. The curriculum for liberal arts programs delve into a specialized depth of knowledge through areas of study, combined with the breadth of general education. The curriculum for human services programs enable students working in related professions to apply their work experience to an academic specialization and degree program.
The Bachelor of Arts degree programs in Psychology, Political Science, Social Sciences and Sociology, and the Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree program at Thomas Edison State College were ranked as one of the top best buys in the country for online regionally accredited undergraduate degrees, according to a national survey conducted by GetEducated.com.
The school is named in honor of Gary Heavin, '02, and his wife, Diane, whose generous support of the College has played a key role in the creation of new academic programs and provided the Thomas Edison State College Foundation with a significant addition to its endowment.
